For those athletes wanting to take their gymnastics to the next level, EGA offers a variety of advanced programs. Training 4 to 6 hours per week Pre-competitive athletes refine their skills and prepare for entry into competitive programs. Depending on their skill level and commitment, TEAM EGA athletes compete at the Invitational/Interclub level (5 to 9 hours per week) or Provincial level (12 to 16 hours per week). For those youngsters wanting to move up into a competitive program, this developmental class will ensure sound basics are in place, and that bodies & minds are prepared for the challenges of a competitive gymnastics program.
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics – Our Invitational & Provincial girls train 5 to 16 hrs on four different apparatus in preparation for competition in the Ontario Competitive Program. Levels progress from 1 to 10. Skill requirements, training time, and travel distance to competition all increase as an athlete moves up to the higher levels. Our WAG program is coached by Marija Gujic, Simon Kay, Priyanshi Randiera, Liza Charad and Sarah Nguyen.
Men’s Artistic Gymnastics – Our Interclub & Provincial boys train 6 to 15 hours on six different apparatus in preparation for competition in Ontario. Based on their ability and skill level, athletes are registered and prepared to compete at an appropriate level, ensuring the right balance between challenge and success.
Our growing Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team athletes range in age from 5 to 17 yrs, and train from 2 to 16 hrs per week. Coached by NCCP Level 2 (or higher) certified coaches, pre-competitive and competitive athletes are provided with customized training programs to help them prepare for competition. Athletes train in a relaxed and fun environment where positive reinforcement motivates them to achieve their personal best.
Our MAG and WAG Head Coaches are seasoned veterans who have been involved in the sport for many years, often in multiple roles. Sean Heaslip oversees the Men’s program, assisted by Carol Charad & Warren Bisbee. As an athlete Sean was coached by the renowned Naosaki Masaaki, and coached alongside Naosaki for many years before taking on his current role as Head Coach. Our Women’s program is led by Marija Gujic who herself was a successful competitive gymnast. She is assisted by Simon Kay and under their guidance the girls continually reach new heights in their athletic endeavors.
A number of our older and/or former Team athletes have undergone the certification process and now coach our recreational classes, enthusiastically imparting their knowledge and love of the sport to our young clients.Entry into a Team program is by invitation only.
